Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that relations between Beijing and Washington faced serious difficulties in 2022. This is reported on the official website of the department.

According to him, China resolutely resisted provocations and pressure from the United States. He said that the American side “stubbornly continued to perceive China as its main competitor.” The minister stressed that the US authorities were engaged in “blatant deterrence, suppression and provocations against China.”

“No hegemonic force could intimidate us, we resolutely acted to protect the fundamental interests and national dignity of China,” the head of the department said.

Wang Yi called on the United States to change its course and adhere to an objective and rational perception of the PRC. According to him, the American authorities should follow a positive and pragmatic policy towards Beijing. He believes that this will lay a solid foundation for the healthy and stable development of relations between the countries.

Earlier, Chinese President Xi Jinping said that Russian-Chinese relations have withstood the test of international vicissitudes and difficulties. He said this at a meeting with Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev. Xi Jinping also added that China is ready to strengthen cooperation between Beijing and Moscow “for the sake of more equitable global management” of available resources and solving world problems.
